Type Locality and Naming

Along the city of Gujumdy, Kuldyktau, Central Kyzylkum. Ya.B. Aysanov et al., 1984.

Synonym: Gujumdinskaya Svita, Гужумдинская св.

Limestones, dolomites, cherts. Thickness 280m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Lies conformably on the deposits of the Tournaisian stage of the Lower Carboniferous.

Upper contact

Schematic stratigraphic column indicates the upper contact as Taushan Fm with erosion

Regional extent

Central Kyzylkum, eastern part of the Kuldyktau Mountains, in the muldas of small synclines.

Fossils

Contains foraminifera Plectogyra cf. latispiralis (Lip.), Endothyra aff. superlata Mal., Parathurammina aff. cushmani Sul., Tournayella sp. and others (44).


Age 

Dated to the Visean period of the Early Carboniferous (Aysanov et al., 1984; 44). A.K. Bukharin et al. (1990) refer small limestone bodies with Visean foraminifera to the G. sv.
